They provide a recovery support center where people can attend free of judgement of their past or present. Recovery Zone is about providing peer support for those who are working towards recovery from mental illness and addiction. “In a formal sense, a peer supporter is someone who receives training to help members set recovery goals, facilitate groups and classes about recovery, and support members’ recovery journeys. He or she has lived experience with mental illness and/or addiction and have reached a point in recovery where they can empower others in their own paths. A peer supporter has usually received formal training in providing recovery supports and utilizes ongoing education and training to further his or her practice.”

Recovery Zone Ice Cream Social
|
These photos are from an Ice Cream Social that members of our staff attended on August 26th at Recovery Zone in Bellefontaine, Ohio. It was a celebration day with ice cream, visiting, and a tour of the facility. We got to see some of the activities like the painting of masks in the pictures. It was nice to spend time with people sharing their stories of recovery with our staff.
